What is the most common color for street lighting poles and luminaires?
Probably silver grey.
It is almost common sense, as galvanized steel and standard metallic finishes naturally lead to grey becoming the default color for many street lighting installations around the world.
But what might be the best color to immerse lighting infrastructure into its environment?
Perhaps green.
After all, trees, parks, boulevards, and vegetation remain green for most of the year — at least seasonally.
This is something we kept noticing throughout our field study in France.
Walking through neighborhood communities.
Driving through districts on the way to visit partners.
Observing roads, streets, parks, and public spaces.
Again and again, we found green-painted poles, green street furniture, and green lighting structures blending naturally into the urban landscape.
In fact, the tradition is so deeply rooted that dark green has become an iconic color of Parisian urban furniture, chosen historically to create harmony between the city, its vegetation, and its architecture.
And perhaps that is why the color continues to endure.
Not because it wants to stand out.
But because it wants to belong.
Sometimes it feels as if great minds think alike.
And perhaps that is why Everlite Green continues to resonate with us.
Because Evergreen has always been one of nature’s favorite colors.
Jade from another mountain can be used to polish the stones of this one.
The jade of other hills, always shines upon our stones.
Still walking on,
Still looking on,
Still marching on.
